Default Re: Welcome sound on LI

Everything is working properly, finally. I ran into a few more problems after I figured out what "asian lady" was saying. "Connection to sensors 2,3 are pretty bad, parking aid is activated". So I called Cliff at LI and informed me that they might have only installed the power switch, which was right. It was stuck on parking sensor mode with no way to switch it to jam mode. So I go back to the installer and tell them they forgot to install the PA/JAM switch, which clearly said in yellow neon stickers in order to install the unit properly it had to be installed as well as the sensors connected to 2 & 3. I got the PA/JAM switch installed and drove off before making sure everything was right; wrong. I was in a rush, and left without turning the damn thing on. Finally realized the connection to sensors 2 & 3 were still bad, so I called Cliff and had him on the phone as I went in search of the CPU. Turns out, the installers decided to plug the sensors into 1 & 4, where the dust covers were originally and moved them to 2 & 3. I moved the sensors into 2 & 3 and finally the "Welcome" (in English) was music to my ears. But all of a sudden, my hardwired V1 stopped getting power. Called Cliff again, who advised me to go back to the installer, of which I was hesitant to do so at first, and have them look at it. So I went in today, and thankfully one of the nicer guys was there alone with no work load. He took a look at my fuse panel and explained in looks like they used the same ground for the LI as I did for my V1, and also crimped/soldered together the "red" wire that connects to the V1 "brain" (best word I could use) and the LI (?). Turns out the fuse blew, so they put in a new one. And right now, everything works! I'll be putting up some installation pictures tomorrow! I've been patiently waiting until everything works!

sorry I dont mean to thread jack but its along similar lines. I just tested out my duals and its able to recognize the lti 2020 correctly but it doesnt say "jamming sequence activated, please slow down." Is there something I need to do to make it say that after it recognizes the gun?

We removed that Voice File from the USA/Canadian Voice Packs in 2010. All New Generation 8 Laser Interceptors now only have the siren alert followed by the gun ID.

Here is the newest 8.05 Voice File for Gen. 8 CPU that adds two new files for the "Laser Detection" only feature. We have also replaced the "Welcome" voice at start up with a more pleasing "crescendo" sound. Users who are NOT going to implement this feature, will NOT need to change your existing Voice Pack but may do so.

**Please note this new feature, along with the Jammer Block feature, require the Optional Switch that will be available shortly. Users can make their own switch as seen on page 12 of the LI Users Manual but instead of PIN 7, PIN 8 and Pin 1 must be connected to the RS-232 (D-Sub Male)

    Cliff,
Can I use the 8.05 voice pack in an 8.02 CPU? There are a couple of extra voice files from what is listed in a few other places online, but I much prefer the crescendo startup to the Welcome voice. Is there a how-to located somewhere on how to load voice files or is it pretty self explanatory using LI Communicator? I've been able to use the software to modify PA/Jam switch settings, connections, etc. so am relatively proficient. Thanks.

Yes, you may but be sure to download the new 8.05 FW so you have protection against the DALA (Digital Ally Laser Ally). Versions 8.03 to 8.05 already have protection from the DALA. All Laser Interceptors purchased after December 23, 2010 already have DALA protection onboard when shipped.

To download the new 8.05 Firmware:

    1. Download the new 3.3.1 Communicator and both the 8.05 and 8.05S files (place the 8.05 and 8.05s) in one folder.
    2. Run the Communicator and with the CPU powered ON and your laptop connected to the CPU and sensors disconnected.
    3. Click on the "Firmware Update" button. (Do NOT click on the "Connect" button!)
    4. A window will open asking you to select a file.
    5. Click on the folder containing the 8.05 and 8.05s files and click on open.
    6. A window will open prompting you to "Please connect and turn on or restart your Laser Interceptor device". Cycle the power switch off and on again. The upload will then begin automatically.
    7. When the download is completed, a window will open indicating "upload complete". Click on "OK"
    8. Once the upload completed window opens, disconnect the cable from your CPU, reconnect your sensors and turn the LI Off and On again.
