I tested a silver car with large headlights and chrome with JTG results. During that time, I owned the ZR4 and after seeing that car own me, I decided to buy an LI myself and all my cars now are JTG.

Bummer.

Im assuming what happened is as follows:
1. the jammer heads were obstructed by the hill (as others have said)
2. the cop was able to (unknowingly) target a reflective portion of the car above the jammers.
3. the silver 'metallic' paint and grille allowed a return signal to back to the gun - even at 1980 feet

Hey, How about a Black Nose Bra, would that not cover allot of the reflective service on the front of the car?

Since the grill has vertical slots. Is it a NO NO to mount the heads vertical? I have not installed my LI on my BMW Bike yet, but was thinking of mounting them Vertical.

Vertical is the way to go on a bike. However, with the Gen 8 LI, it doesn't really make a difference anymore since the output is not polarised as previous versions were.

Could part of the problem be the lack of a front license plate? I mean, with a front plate, isn't it virtually certain that the target point will be the plate (rather than headlight, for example)? By mounting a front plate, and then locating heads so as to maximize protection of the plate, you are essentially attracting the shot to your most protected area.

I have the same front end as the OP, and mounting in the grill is a nightmare. So, I was planning to mount a front plate, and then put the heads on the same horizontal plane as the OP (shown in Location No. 3 - Red), but with the heads much closer to the plate. At 2000' you can't distinguish a license plate. I don't think many LEO's target specific parts of the vehicle. most, in my opinion, just put the dot or box on the center of the vehicle and fire.

Considering all the research and testing that has been done with the LI, I think its only certain to say that the OPs heads were mounted improperly (and weren't tested) or not functioning properly.

Heads were definitely low, but every now and then a freak PT happens even on the best of systems.

Remember in this game you have to be perfect every time, they only have to be lucky once!!!
