First X50 laser shot and massive sting operation (Tampa)

OH WOW..

Where can I start. TONS of action today from Hillsborough county sheriffs. It all first started when I was listening to the scanner and unmarked LEOs start tracking the whereabouts of gangs of fast motorcycles. They surrounded the area a set up a few speed traps on Eisenhower Blvd and Hoover Blvd which both meet with Hillsborough Ave.

They even mentioned on the scanner that they will be using laser and radar and giving away their locations!! I love the scanner! Too bad its due to go digital.

Anyway so they finally nab them!! they stop like 4-5 bikes on Eisenhower and Memorial Hwy and when I passed there, there was like 8-9 crown vics!! wow, i said. All along I got tons of Ka 33.8 alerts from them.

So, after driving around, they said on the radio that they are "setting up radar and laser on eisenhower and memorial"

I was like "sweet!!", so I turn on the street and there the crown vic was, positioning himself parallel to the road probably for Laser! I didnt get any hits on the X50 cuz I caught him setting up. haha.

So I go on the same road one final time after 15 min, and saw that he had one customer pulled over. So, i pass on by and further down the road where all the bikes got pulled over, they were STILL there and just when i was approaching the crown vic pack and BAM .. i get blasted with laser at fairly close range, and I saw the cop standing outside and lowered his LTI Ultralyte as i passed him.. yes.. now i know what they use!! Looks like he was just playing around targeting cars. OHHH how I am going to get a jammer.

This operation is rare here and i finally took a look at whats going on around the area!!

oh heck yea. I'm telling you, since I started hunting for LEOs around here its been very quiet but Saturday was a surprise. I guess they had the motive to nab the speeding ninja bikers. lol.

Also I was shot with the Ultralyte at pretty close range, maybe 100ft, and X50 alerted no problem. Its harder for detectors to alert from close than from far. This was at night. So I do not doubt the X50's laser detection performance.. its pretty damn good.
