Hey outrun, that's very interesting. Lucky for me, even though my drive to work and back is extremely long, traffic isn't too much of a problem. I run on the East side of town where the traffic is lighter. Usually, if there is a back up, it is due to an accident. The only usual backup I run into is at I610 loop on the North side where it intersects with Hwy 59 and that is due to construction where they have the left lane closed on I 610.

The only other thing that can slow me down are the morons parking in the left hand lane.

You're in my backyard. I live in Kemah. I have a lot of clients downtown so I commute a lot.
Hope the V1 doesn't drive you nuts with falses. :lol:

Glad to know someone else is down here. I've just gotten used to the commute but I still hate the traffic...

As far as the V1, I really don't get many falses with it. I keep it on L to filter out most junk and turned POP off. I usually get the most trouble exiting at NASA Rd 1 from Burlington Coat Factory and what not. I'd probably get less alerts if I turned X off but I'm not certain if I should.

Anyway, I can deal with a little extra talk from the V1 since it's so good at keeping me ticket free. :D :D :D

Just turn X off. I have never ran with X on with any radar detector. Unless it didn't have a feature where I could turn it off. There just simply is no X band out there anymore. I even traveled from here to Ohio and I never turned X band on. I just don't believe it is out there. If it was it would have to be sent it in to be tuned every year or whatever. I don't even know if they still tune them. Now I am in Dallas but I don't think we are much different from Houston. When I go to the country or out in the sticks I still don't run X band and I get mostly K and Ka.

Save your self all those annoying alerts and turn off X band. You will be glad you did.

A couple of folks on here have reported running into X band from a LEO in the Houston area. But I think you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting hit with X band.

I believe Wonhunglo said he got an X hit from a Harris County Constable. I haven't observed X from these LEOs yet.

For the record: HCC cars are Yellow and White CrownVix and they all have blacked out windows. The slick tops I've observed are all shooting K and Ka. The Tahoe shoots Ka 33.800. There's another Precint 1 Constable with a red, white and blue slick top CrownVic shooting Ka 33.800. You'll run across him if you drive on Nasa Rd 1 or Egret Bay Blvd.

IMPORTANT: Webster moto unit has a ProLaser 3, hides and shoots "close". I believe he also has a Stalker hand held mounted on his bike. I've never seen the moto unit using radar while moving.

My X is off. Although, just recently, I ran from Brownsville to Houston with it on just for kicks. Nothing but door openers. It's back off.

I may keep X on for a little while, at least until I get done with a road trip coming soon that will take me out of state. After that I may go ahead and turn it off...
