Hmmm.....very interesting as moving RADAR is specifically not allowed (PA state law) to be used for writing citations. Also, interesting that a Park Ranger would have a newer unit than PSP since they usually get "hand-me-downs." DEP must've gotten a grant or something! :)Quote:

Was it a State Park police officer or was it a National Park Police Officer, If you were on Rte 209 between the park and the milford bridge (Rte 6) it could have been the National Park Ranger. But then again, maybe they now have moving radar for the DEP?????Quote:

Yes this is true! The PSP is using and testing some Ka handheld units. How many Ka units the PSP has is not clear at the moment but I am trying to find out. I have not run into any Ka speed traps as of yet this summer. The reason I am confirming that the PSP is using some Ka is because I had asked a friend who is a Trooper out of Gibbson, PA and he did confirm that the PSP is using some Ka in areas of PA.Quote:

No I wouldn't call it lucky. I think it depends in what part of the state you travel. The PSP usually target high accident locations or are more active when the is an "Operation what ever". Outside of that the PSP isn't overly active with radar.Quote:

I'm not saying they are not good. I had been poped by instant on on Rt.6 about a mile West of Wysox, PA and this was a well trained Trooper because he could have had me if I were speeding. It was around a curve abd he was shooting at a pretty good angle so not to warn people with RD too far away. (He was using a hand held Decature Gennisus)Quote:

I hit one instant-on K band on the turnpike coming back from Ohio in western PA. It was a handheld unit. The cop was parked on the right side of the road just over a hill with the cruise facing the same direction as the flow of traffic. The cop was sitting in his car holding the radar out the driver side window and pointing it back at the traffic coming over the hill. I received a weak K band alert awhile back and slowed down. Was driving the speed limit for awhile like I always do after a weak alert and then when I came up over the hill I got blasted with K band going exactly 65mph. :D
