Philadelphia red-light cameras

Here is the Law governing the RLC in PA,

Subsection 3116

As it stand only first class cities can have them i.e Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and there are a number of things that must be followed in order to have them installed. This is about the most in depth traffic law PA has, it goes into great detail.

Here is the interesting part of the law

(2) This section shall only be applicable at intersections in the city of the first class agreed upon by the system administrator and the Secretary of Transportation who shall consider using the automated red light enforcement system at the following intersections:
(i) U.S. Route 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) at Grant Avenue, at Red Lion Road and at Cottman Street.
(ii) Kensington Avenue at Clearfield Street.
(iii) Richmond Street at Allegheny Avenue and at Castor Avenue.
(iv) Aramingo Avenue at York Street.
(v) Thompson Street at Lehigh Avenue.
(vi) Broad Street at Washington Avenue.

The law does not allow them to install the Camera at any other interesting on Aramingo other than York. I think there are going to be lots of ticket that people are going to get tossed unless the law is updated real soon.

It also sounds like Philly put in cameras in other locations which are not on this list, wonder how they got away with that.

So that's saying there's only 6 intersections where the cameras are allowed? Lmfao

Well I guess it could be read that way the other way to read it is the camera installed at those intersection are subject to that subsection. I tend to read it as those 6 intersection are allowed to have cameras by law and are subject to the entire section.

But I know there are more cameras in Philly than those 6 locations so somehow it gotten around the law. That, or the lawyers have not read the law recently and had a stick about it in court.

Yea, I've been researching PA's RLC's and I just can't find anymore solid evidence to their locations and how many.

Looking at trapster there are A LOT of validated RLC's....

People in PA reporting RLC are idiots, they report the traffic monitoring cameras as ticketing camera's they have no clue so you will see RLC in trapster for location that do not have ticketing cameras.

I have said this before Trapster in PA is mostly useless since people report non existing cameras and ever time they see an officer sitting in a parking lot or some intersection whether they are actually running speed enforcement or not. So you get the boy who cried wolf syndrome going on, you begin not to trust it.

Yea that is what I was thinking. When I get home I'll double check the 6 intersections you stated and physically use the street view for the monitoring devices and delete the trap.

I've been doing that to A LOT of cameras lately it's not even funny....

This talks about the best part of the law, the government made it impossible to you to get hold of any information pertaining to you ticket. can can not even get a court order discover of the information to challenge your tickets. Wonder what they were afraid we would find out.

When the state approved the additional RLC intersections they never modified 75 3116 which governs over red light enforcement.

I do know that the locations are "officially" documented somewhere...I can't seem to find it right now though.

Pittsburgh is not a first class city. :) It is a second class...Scranton is second class A...all other cities are third class.
