Confimed K Band in NYC - GCP by the Cross Island Parkway

Hey all,

So this Saturday (3/23/13) I got my first dose of K Band C/O in Queens NY. I was heading Westbound on the GCP when my V1 started alerting. I initially dismissed the alert thinking It was radar guided cruse control or a blind spot sensor, however I then noticed it didn't ramp like a false alert. Instead of varying in signal strength it started out weak and got stronger as I approached the source. It turns out there was a under cover, blacked out charger sitting on the on ramp from the Cross Island Parkway hitting upcoming traffic with his rear antenna. This is the first time I have seen K band used in NYC after a solid 2 years of a driving with a radar detector. In the past K band alerts have ALWAYS been false alerts leading me to believe K band was no longer used. However I can now confirm NYPD Highway Patrol still use K band radar guns, just not very often. They normally shoot laser 90-95% of the time, perhaps the cold weather deterred this LEO from using his lidar gun.

Thanks for the heads up! I commute from Queens to Suffolk county every day.

I will be purchasing laser jammers in the near future, as soon as I buy a new car. I've been thinking about getting either Laser interceptors or the Blinder HP-905. Any recommendations? I know laser ally is tough to jam, I currently avoid traveling on the LIE (I-495) as county LEOs almost exclusively shoot lidar. I mainly travel on the Northern State Parkway which is 80% C/O Ka (34.7) band, 20% lidar.

Go with a Laser interceptor.Contact me when you get your jammer and I install it and test the system for you.
