Really? What would the sentence be for a normal citizen? Years in federal prison? People wonder why professional workers are disliked. The I'M better than you attitude is bad enough, but when professional workers give extra tolerance, I get upset.
Laws in general are not written excusing professionals. So hold them to the same penalties as everyone else.

Most get about the same punishment or less, actually. Prison overcrowding with those dangerous [sarcasm] drug users and prostitutes doesn't leave room for these guys. He's just lucky he's already retired, as they can't take his pension now. Dallas had two officers convicted and fired over this in the last year, but not on duty. Seems like they got probation, which is most common, unless you actually upload the pics yourself. Those are the ones who get serious jail time.
Regardless of anything, he is still one sick SOB. I can't imagine having your name be plastered about the city for all to see with something like this. His friends and family must be proud.
Your right Stealth, the prisons are filled with the hard criminals (Sarcastic). However for something like this , I would say it's going to take more than prison to change his thinking.

Good to see he received a felony conviction. However, I would like to see him serve more time than 60 days.
Meh... I used to think that. But then, I used to believe in the War On Drugs too. My thinking has seriously evolved over time. Other than stolen property, I can't think of anything that mere possession of should be a crime. Seriously. And it's even harder to conclude that merely seeing something constitutes possession of it. If it were any other "crime," nobody would stand for that perversion (no pun intended) of the law.
I totally agree. Viewing child porn and committing lewd and indecent acts on a minor is a huge difference in my book.
I think the sentence is fair. I think registering as a sex offender while you collect a pension for being a cop is far worse then any jail time you could give him.
No one is going to remember all the lives you changed or saved while risking your own. All they are going to remember is your the assh0le that was caught while on duty.

And don't forget on the prison hierarchy where cops rank, and then where child sex offenders rank, he's about to become a lonely inmates best friend.
He talked about it being an obsession, and to me that's a flag that he needs to sit with a psychologist, or he's going to end up doing the same thing again within 5 years of getting out, and the FBI had him in connection with this stuff for a long time before they had enough to charge, 60days is a blink of an eye in comparison.
He's a user not a dealer, I'm hoping the guilty plea and far less that what it could be sentence are a sign he turned the FBI onto distributors or manufacturers of this, so they can move up the chain and put away the guys that are doing the damage to the kids.
I seriously doubt that he has any clue about distributors or manufacturers any more than the average crack addict does. And the dirty little secret that the feds won't tell you is that they are the biggest distributor of kid pr0n. They do it on a huge scale just to trap end users, just like drugs. But when the feds do it, it's somehow not harmful to kids or society. Every cop who has ever "seen" it should be in prison with this guy, if it's such a big deal. I hate hypocritical legal double standards.
