Button camera is one of those small spy type cameras that are the size of a match box. You plug it into a regular camcorder and the image is captured by the button camera and recorded on the camcorder.
But the drawback is that the quality pictture is not as ggod so if you are looking to recording at night its best done with the camcorder's own lens.
You want a camcorder that can record a the lowest LUX posible. Most have infrared nightvision also but I don't recomend it as is in black and white and quality is poor.
