I have not been on the site in a while and was wondering what the general consensus was on the STi. I have the RX65 as my daily driver and was wondering if the STi was any better. Barring the invisability. ( I live in the States) (not Virginia or DC) I noticed the Roy still lists the RX65 as his choice for Best RD.
So no reason not to stick with your RX65!Quote:

I think that RX65 is the top-of-the-line for users in legal areas, when STI is the one and only choice for the le miserable!!!
Well performance is not only the aspect to consider, price is a big thing. For $120 and no need for stealth I'd go 65 (well maybe not).
sti's do extremly well on Ka band(maybe a little better than the rx65), but it's pricier just because it's the one and only rd that's 100% stealth
If I lived in area where RD are legal I would go with a V1. The arrows are a great future and the upgrades are a huge bennifit.
I know you can get a stealth (Spectre proof) V1 from roy but it is over $1400.00
The biggest problem with the V1 seems to be the falses because it is so sensitive.
The Sti has better a little better performance but if it was me I'd buy the RX65 and a jammer
I have owned all of the "Big 3" (minus the x50 that was stolen). I love the arrows, but it is not worth the falsing. The X50 I like a lot. But my every day driver is the RX65. I was wondering if there were any glaring reasons to buy the STi.
I guess if the STi was better Roy would promote it as best.??!!

Could be simple marketing, too. Its much smarter to promote and endorse a product which sells for a much lower price than a superior product which is out of reach of most people. A retailer makes much more selling 1000 "A" units compared to 30 "B" units.
How much of a market share does Valentine own compared to all other detectors on the market? 2%. Maybe 5%. Its a well known fact that the more your product costs, the fewer you will sell compared to a similar product thats somewhere around half the price with maybe 90% of the performance. Thats a fact. And the fewer you sell the higher the cost needs to be.
Take the audiophile home stereo market. Is a $10,000 reciever 4 times as good as a $2500.00 ? Almost certainly not. But thats the price you pay to get the very best & get that (sometimes) minimal boost in performance. When Proceed ( a very high end brand ) sets its sights on consumers, it knows its target audience is very limited & is priced accordingly.
