cell phone alerts
I just switched from an x50 to a Bell 995 because I'm moving to europe. One amusing thing I've noticed is that my cell phone sets off laser alerts when I answer, hang up, or just move my phone around when I'm talking on it. It happens when blue tooth is both on and off, so I'm not sure what's causing it; I have a Palm Treo.
Anyone ever hear of these problems?

Mine does X band with my v1. If I put the phone close to a escort or bel it'll do it too, but with the v1 it'll pick it up if I even have it in my pocket.

I'm just surprised it's setting off my laser alert; makes me wonder if the thing is working right.

try this
Try this, a system reset. If it still acts up, send it back to BelEscort. As far as the V1 being set off by a cellphone on x band, yes this can/will happen in A or logic modes. If in advanced-logic mode, I noticed it doesn't happen.

Cell phones are transmitters, relatively low power but high frequency. The laser circuits used in radar detectors have to have tremendous signal gain in order to be effective against laser. The cell phone is unfortunately transmitting a signal right into the circuitry of the laser detector and that circuitry is responding. Resetting the unit won't change that. You could return the unit for service but my best guess is to fix that they just de-sensitize the laser circuit. You could just learn to live with it and go happily along your way. The same applies for those that when they beep their horn the laser goes off, or in my case when I adjust my outside mirrors, my laser falses. OK, I know that, its cool, so I live with it.

Yea, I've learned to ignore it. I don't talk much while I'm driving anyway. I guess the Escort 8500 is shielded better than the B995.
