Need some purchase advice

I ride a motorcycle so my one definate prerequisite is that the detector that I buy has an ear piece so that I can hear the alerts. I have a cheapo bottom of the line detector in my car but I would like to upgrade from this to something that does not get so many false indications. From what I have read the Escort Passport 8500 seems to be the best radar detector out there, and it does have a headphone jack. I am not looking to spend quite this much money and I was wondering if anyone knows of a middle of the line detector that has this feature. The only others that I have found with a headphone jack are the cobra detectors which I hear suck.


Any suggestions?

Well something you may want to consider is interfacing the detector with a wireless HUD such as the HARD System or the new Cheetah that will be coming out.

You'll find that an earphone just don't cut it on a bike, cannot hear "tunes" and you'll have a cord between you and your bike

If you're set on an earphone, then check out Whislters and/or Cobras, but you'll not be able to use the HUD systems down the road

V995? It is not that much cheaper, but it is a start.

If I were you, I'd save up for a couple weeks longer and just get the X50, you won't be disappointed.

higher you go in a the performance of a detector the more falses you get....I would personally go with the BEL v955 that was a great performer at the recent Guys Of Lidar event for the cheap detectors

Look at the results and see what is enough performance for you. I honestly would save some money and purchase the Escort 8500 X50 its a great detector for the money but so is the BEL v995
