Next generationn of RD feature request

I would like to see the next generation of RD contain a "learned" discriminator feature. For example:

I drive 55 minutes into work each day. Along my route I know exactly the spots where my detector will false alarm because of "auto door openers", "hospitals" etc. The frequencies these false alarms occur are_the_same_each_day at the same spot.

Whats even better, I'm familiar with the frequencies/bands the local and state police use and NEVER on the same frequency as my "false alarm frequencies."

So while driving by my false alarm hot spots, I like to be able to hit a button that will discriminate against that one specific frequency and have it stored it into a user profile.

Now I'll be able to travel by these same false alarm hot spots without the RD going off and still be able to have detector set for high sensitivity.

Obviously disable this user set profile once I drive elsewhere.

Bel and Escort are the same company now.

Chances are when a Bel model with GPS comes out, it will be based on the 9500i anyway.

Gimmicks placed inside Radar Detectors are obviously trying to cover up one important fact about the detector!!!

Stick with better detection technology and drop the gimmicks.

Detection wise, the 9500 is very similar to the 8500.

The detector of tomorrow already exists, if they would just fix the stupid thing.

The 9500i could be the greatest if they would incorporate the x50 ramp up. Fix the true lock, and just go nuts on the sensitivity in H mode.

Go ahead and install yet another Local Oscillation frequency inside your RD to make the GPS work!!

I like a low noise level inside my RD with no possible chance of harmonics.

Now thats called being "covered up."

You say this, yet you're buying an STi? :lol: :lol: :lol:

I hate to break it to you, but the STi has three first LO's. At least two of them are Belscort's signature push-push designs (frequency doublers) so in addition to the oscillator freq there's also plenty of half-freq signals floating around the system too.

So, the STi definitely doesn't have a "low noise level" inside it. In fact, quite the opposite. Internally, it might well have one of the highest internal noise levels of any detector ever made! But amazingly, BEL is able to manage all of the noise and in the end have a great detector.

As long as it does the job properly, who cares what it's doing inside?

Then maybe your next RD will serve you coffee while driving into work.

I'll accept a dozen LO inside the RD as long as their mission is to make the RD receive the correct frequencies! No foreign oscillator goes inside my RD allowing it to pickup GPS frequencies, or for that matter serve coffee.


Oh by the way having multiple LO'ers doesn't mean that it produces more noise, Its normal for radar receivers to have such design in order to pick up quasi-harmonically related radio frequencies which are great for detecting X and K band frequencies.

Again a GPS in a RD is simply good consumer "bait"
