I know there are people out there that hate when their detector goes off and no leo is in sight. Would you rather have an extra sensitive which would ultimately pick up lots of door sensors or would you rather have a less sensitive detector that is quieter around town.
I'm sure this debate will never truly be settled. Everyone has their own opinions on this one...
Me personally, I think you want superior filtering along with good sensitivity, sort of the best of both worlds. There is no perfect solution to this question, thats why there are so many choices on detectors in the industry.
What it comes down to are your driving conditions and your tolerance for noise (ie. false alerts). You also have to consider what types of equipment cops are using in your area.
Well the 9500CI will offer its users maximum sensitivity plus GPS!

Sensitivity doesn’t equate to not getting a ticket, the ability to communicate a real threat and the driver’s reaction to that threat equates to not getting a ticket. Its ½ driver ½ the RD responsibility to prevent a ticket. The most sensitive RD in the world won’t prevent a ticket if it doesn’t communicate the real threat clearly and the driver doesn’t react correctly.
Untell the cops find out what the door band is and theres and go sit next to a place that has the same and gets all the 9500I (GPS) people lol.Quote:

P.S.S. If i got a ticket with the 9500I b/c of the GPS and it has been more than the 30 days. Right in front of the cop I would smash it into a million pieces. And maybe he would not give me that ticket he was writing.
It's a matter of personal taste, but I'd want maximum sensitivity and filtering. I don't mind if my detector goes off because of a legit radar source 3 miles away, as long as it correctly reports the signal as being weak, not pegged at 9 bars for 30 minutes or 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-9-9-9-9.
Others would beg to differ and want their detector to STFU until it's important :)

If cops did this, then you could easily argue in court that the door opener on the same frequency interfered with the radar gun's reading. In fact, any K band door opener has the potential to interfere with a K band radar gun's reading if the officer operates his K band radar very close to a K band door opener. The only scenario where I see this occurring is if the officer tries to measure your speed from a considerable distance. The returned signal off your car from his radar gun would be pretty weak and then the nearby door opener signal could easily get mixed into to radar gun's speed calculation. This is just a theory of mine. Maybe somebody with a K band radar gun should test this theory. If the door opener does occasionally produce interference then a video should be made which we all could use in court if ticketed in a similar situation.Quote:

The doppler shift for K-Band for 1 MPH is (approximately) 72 Hz. For a motion sensor to interfere it would have to be at:
24.150014328 GHz
... or closer in frequency.
For some rough odds, divide the 200 MHz wide police K-Band by 14328 Hz, and you end up with a 1 in 13,958 chance that a motion sensor's frequency would happen to fall close enough to the radar gun's frequency to interfere. Not likely to happen, but it IS possible.
Sounds like reasonable doubt to me :lol:
