I used to do a lot of mechanical installations and repairs in my younger days. However, since being saddled with bifocals and and a not so limber body at 57, I find hiring professional work usually gets the desired result without the high blood pressure episode when everything goes wrong.

As one other said, go to the Escort website, and do a search of authorzied installers, since they have knowledge of the product it makes it easier.

I hear you there, I'm not 57 yet and don't wear glasses, but at 41 even I'm feeling too old to be contorting my body under a dash for hours like I use to do when I was younger. I could probably get it done, but then would have back and neck pains for the next 3 days. It is reassuring to know at 57 people do actually still speed, I've always been worried about that myself.
Sounds like a good excuse to have your son come pay dad a visit... and while your here, do you mind helping me with something?
