My son works at CarToys in Denver. He sent me an Escort Passport SRX for my 2003 Corvette Z06. I am trying to find someone near my home in central California to install this item. I would like to find someone who has had previous experience with this particular product, not someone who has never installed an SRX. Does anyone in this forum have any advice in this matter ? Thanks for any replies...... :D
Nice car first off. 2nd the install isn't that bad. If you do some research yourself it will go a lot easier. Things you should look for are holes in your firewall, and how to take apart some the interior paneling. For example, in my car I had to find fire walls holes in the front and rear, find the holes to follow the license plate lights back to my plate, a way to run wires from the passenger side to the drivers side, take out my rear seats, take of my cluster trim, and take apart the center council. I went a little crazy on mine so you probably won't have to so much. I also took my front bumper off, but again, thats probably something a normal person wouldn't do.Quote:

Do a search for 'California' and I'm sure you'll find a list of installer recommendations. Also wait a few hours for some answers here.
If you contact Escort they will tell you who the authorized installers for this are in your area.
If you stalk out their shop and watch the installers leave for lunch, then follow them and catch one of the guys standing in line at Wendy's you can probably talk him into doing a great custom install at your house for considerably less than the shop is going to charge you, but considerably more than the $5.00 an hour the shop is paying him. (or utilize your own thought out plan and method to be able to pull him to the side and negotiate a price for the side work, most people in this line of work do side work all the time.)
You'd also likely get a far better install from him than by taking it directly into the shop. In the shop he's likely under a rush by the shop manager to get installs done as quickly and with as many short cuts as possible. At your house he won't be under this pressure and he'll be looking at the job as making more money, which is very motivational to do a nice job. Plus, by doing the install at your house you lower the risk of potential joy riding taking place in your vehicle, and he's under your watchful eye, just hope your not under his watchful eye and he's making note of what other nice stuff you may own while at your house.
Other than materials though, do not pay him a dime until the job is 100% complete. When guys who do work on the side already have the money in their pocket they tend to loose their motivation rather easily.
