Pop question

Does the officer's vehicle have to be stationary? or can they be moving while using POP? I got a POP alert today and there was an officer coming towards me on the other side of the highway. False Coincidence??

POP is not used on Moving vehicle.. there would be way too much error

is it supposed to be used while moving.....no

but "supposed to be" being the key phrase


word on the streets is many officers haven't been trained in how to use these new units, and it could be possible that some are using them while moving, but hopefully for our sake this is not true

It could have been that the officer shot someone with instant on and your detector picked it up as pop especially if his radar unit operated on ka frequency 33.8 which is offered in some normal ( non pop) units. :D

First, here's what it says directly from the MPH manual, copyright 2002:

This leaves us with a couple of possible conclusions:

-At one time, MPH was selling units with POP that could be used in moving mode, but this changed sometime after 2002.

OR

-POP can be used in the moving mode, it has been this way since '02 and the SML tests in '04 and '05 are citing old information.

Either way, it appears that there are some units out there on the road that have POP that can be used in moving mode.

So my answer would have to be YES, POP can be used in moving mode, unless I see evidence otherwise.

You would think if pop is identical to regular radar with the exception of the speed burst, I assume it could be used while in motion as well...
