Strange K alert
Was heading home from work today got to the intersection, I always turn north on to head home but got a K band alert at a 1 so decided to keep going west to see how far he was the alert went to a 2 then quit then topped a hill and was getting a 1 on signal strength even as I passed the officer who was east bound. I am sure it was him not another unit as my detector never goes off in this area and once he passed the detector quit giving a alert. I was just puzzled why I only got a 1 on the strength I was not speeding or I would have been nailed.
Was thinking of going for a drive to test the detector in my local city however the cost of gas is sort of preventing that idea.
Just wondering what thoughts any of you may have on what may have went wrong or the reason for such a weak alert??
Thanks

He could have had a cordless gun, that was on but laying on the seat or on the floor.
Thats my best guess

Was there other people on the road? Cause it might of been another detector.

as for the the fuel problem, just start siphoning :D

some cops use hand held radar guns and it must be on the seat.

Similar thing happened to me the other day. Was approaching two LEOs parked on the opposite side of the highway with a customer. Flat road, almost no traffic, perfect conditions for me to get around 2 miles on a normal day. I was able to get over 30 seconds visual on the LEOs before I came up to them, but the RD (a bel V955 in my case) only had a 1 or 2 bar alert and about 5 seconds warning. I figured the gun was a cordless in the passenger seat.
