How much are they asking for those? I thought it was $130?
I would check locally like on CL and see what it has. You might be able ot snag an X50 for around that if you get lucky.
Really it's not a bad price for a refurb and I say that because I want to have mine done and adding their $80 fee to the $80 I paid for mine means I would likely spend $160 on something I could of had for ~130. Try craigslist or ebay first though just to see what's up. I had no idea the market for these things was so hot. Pre-RD, I was scanning eBay for some V1s and almost everyone listed (not BIN) had a ton of bidders. I was hoping to find one hidden away and for cheap. Not the case! Glad I didn't though. Saved money and I love auto-mute!
If that is really an Escort store, and the price is right I would got for it. I bet that sucker is totally referbed and is tested to perform close to new. I bet they even give a limited warranty.Quote:

Highlights recently was a Thursday evening when I was heading home (I normally work evenings so it was rare) and I get a weak Ka hit and then nothing about a minute +10 maybe later I see a cop with someone pulled over and it's real high then. One morning I was heading out west and at the top of a hill it went off and way at the bottom about a mile/mile and a half there was a Dodge Charger cop car with someone pulled over.
Low spots are times when I turn a highway corner and there is a cop in the opposite direction and it goes off after I see them. Around the curve is a bit low but straight line it is pretty good. Bottom of a hill going up was kinda weak. I was heading up a hill to my building and had the radio up loud and see this weird looking car come at me and I am trying to figure out what it is and I notice it was a cop car and look down and Ka is nuts. Hill is fairly steep but no warning there at all until I was at the top of it and heading right for him. He was just cruising around up there I guess. I am hoping a refurb will help improve its performance but I want to get it up high first.
Although a buddy of mine has a RX65 and one day I was over there we took them both out and except for a half second difference in the RX65 and holding the alert alittle longer after you passed the cop it was dead on with his and it's new and mine is a bit older. Was impressed with it there.

A buddy of mine was helping his bro move to Ohio and he said this guy in a Jeep was driving like an idiot and then he saw the cop and slowed dows but it was too late. He said the V1 they were using picked up the cop about a mile away so they knew what was up.
The V1 is the definite choice for the guys on my BMW board. There are about four of us using 8500's and I only know one guy locally with a 9500.
When did you get the V1? I would maybe keep it. The price those go for you could sell it and buy an X50 and probably a regualr 8500. Well......
I took a look at the site, and they have 2003 plus models I assume that is the x50's. They are 149 plus shipping. That is not a bad deal, since they are factory referb.
