My Valentine 1 "J'd" a LEO!

Alright guys, I was dumbfounded when my V1 (3.864) gave me the "J" to a real LEO!

I was cruising down the highway [101-S & 880 for you locals (Moderate traffic, through a city)], when I got a couple blips of Ka (CHP). I must have picked it up from a mile back or so, so I dropped back down to 70 and kept my eyes open for a cruiser as the signal got stronger. It was getting stronger for about .7 of a mile, then suddenly out of nowhere I get the "J" and the "Dee Dah Do" sound. At first I didn't know what to think, as I thought junk detectors are canceled out pretty quickly.

So anyway, just as I was about to speed back up, I see a CHP cruiser and it's victim on the side of the road. I assume the cruiser had it's radar on, as there's no way I could pick up a junk detector from that far away (Or is there?). The V1 never gave a Ka alert after the "J".

What's going on here?

I have picked up some junk detectors from remarkable distances and signal strengths that seemed like radar. It is possible, especially if that junk is traveling the same direction as you. I have had that happen. Did you disable POP after this?

His signature says it did. It's happen to me before just once since November (Purchased) and it J'd out in this worst speed trap town (one of them) in my state. I also had POP off but it greatly decrease the false on J'd.

Yeah, the V1 does that sometimes, don't worry about it... just stay vigilant after it J's out ANYTHING, or reset the unit (go through a power-cycle: On-to-Off-to-On).

Obviously one of the other drivers on the road with you had a Cobra RD in his car. Your V1 J'd out the junk signal and alerted you to the real radar, just like it's supposed to.

as per me as long as v1 alerts ... it doesn't bother me if it j's out.

u heard the alert , took action to slow down ... thats enough. i don't really care if it j's out when i see the cop anyway after a mile of alert.

j out is a inbuilt feature which has some bugs sometimes.

mine does this once and a while also, but it usually silents after the j

So how much does POP off reduce "J"unk alerts?

i used to get 3-5 J' outs per week with pop on...with it off i have gotten maybe 5-6 in the last 16 months

I received 3 j outs the 2nd day I owned mine and none since I turned pop off.
