Well, I had no idea that Escort had their own online eBay store. It looks like it is legit. And its about frigging time that Escort started countering some of those online eBay retailers who were selling Escort and Bel products either without serial number stickers and no factory warranty, or with fake serial number stickers yet no factory warranty, refurbished units which did not meet Escort or Bel specs, et cetera. Too many people have been burned purchasing Bel or Escort products off of eBay.
A non-X50 will have the older S7 radar horn. It is not quite as sensitive on-axis yet performs a bit better off-axis. This means that it is an excellent choice if your driving conditions consist of primarily curvy and winding roads. Regardless, the older non-X50 radar detectors are still decent radar detectors in their own right -- better than models just a few years older than the 8500.
The original has got excellent Ka detection. Saved me every time so far against radar.
Its probably pretty good. The old S7 horn did pretty well, and with all and the newer M4 horns they are only 5-10% better on 35.5 IMO.
my 8500 non x50 still works well.
I have a non-x50 and works pretty good on 35.5. Still won't save you if you're the only car and you get I/O'd though (as with any detector).
BTW, the last video I posted, someone said the alert sounded like I had a rattlesnake in the car. :o
Ya, i put my old 8500 back in my car after driving with my 9500 exclusively for 9 months. The 8500 sounded like a dying mouse with a breathing problem.:o
