OHIO members with radar/laser guns...
I am wanting to do some tests of my own detector and was hoping someone around the area might have a radar/lidar gun and would be willing to come out and have some fun and help test out the detectors. I'm sure some other members around here would be interested aswell. Anyhow, send me a PM or just post in the thread if you have some equipment and would be interested in comming out, of if you'd be interested in comming to test your stuff. I'm in central Ohio so if you live around here that would be best. It would be cool if we could get do it this Sunday if possible, but if not we could set a date. Thanks, RTT.
Re: OHIO members with radar/laser guns...
I've noticed you have a V1 and as long as it's tuned on a regular basis, you got nothing to worry about. Also, it would save you time and effort if you just look at GOL's test results. Like me, I wanted to do the same thing in the past - doing tests of my own to know for sure how my RD works.
I can tell you from my own experience using different radar guns from kustom, decatur, stalker and MPH testing them against the V1, X50, STi and 9500i/9500ix, that it will save you time and effort if you just look at GOL's tests in the past. There's really not much to test that GOL did not cover. I'm not a GOL member but my findings are the same. So all I do now is just sit and relax. I''ll sell my guns in exchange for stocks so overtime I can buy updated radar and laser guns than what I have now. :D
Re: OHIO members with radar/laser guns...
It's not really to test thier findings, it's really just so I know exactly what to expect, and test some of my mute settings and such. I'd like to see what the distances are for the LEDs. How far away for 3-4-5 LEDS and such. I want to see how it does on lidar detection hitting different parts of my car. My V1 just got tuned back in August so I know it's good to go. Plus, it's something to do and I think it would be fun.
Re: OHIO members with radar/laser guns...
1. Mute settings is only for K band which is widely available at grocery stores and shopping malls.
2. Distance based on LED's will give you different results in forward facing, off axis and on axis. There's just no good way to tell distance based on LED numbers and a good example is, a cruiser parked 50 ft away and you get half the signal strength or a cruiser that is a mile away and you'll get full signal strength. There is so much to factor in when it comes to this particular topic.
3. V1's performance with laser is the best in the industry. It will alert you every time a laser is shot at you. I'm sure you'll have fun when you do some testing. Just thought of saving you some time.
