October 30, 2008 - 7:33pm Operation Stop Speeding starts this weekend for Dunedin Police for highways leading into the southern part of the city.
The operation will run for two weeks where police will use a number of different tactics such as high visibilty patrols and speed cameras.
Strategic Traffic Unit Acting Sergeant, Andrew Camp says police will also be emphasising the need for seatbelts as a prevention method for sustaining serious injury.
Camp says the need for another speeding operation has arisen due to the latest figures showing speed as a factor in fifty percent of fatal crashes in the Dunedin area.
