Re: 9500ix configuration?
I prefer the speed reading just before alert strength, when I get an alert I glance at the RD see my speed than the strength and adjust accordingly. It works quite well for me.
The 9500 is so quiet with so few falses i just slow down whenever I get an alert anyway.
POP tends to increase falses plus it isn't really used anyway.
Re: 9500ix configuration?
I didn't like SpeedAlert's speed display before the alert either, so I turned it off. I run Pilot SPD at all times anyway so SpeedAlert is somewhat redundant ... plus Pilot SPD is a perfect indication your GPS is working.

Thats exactly how I run my 9500ci. And to further answer b50hbuff's question, only turn POP on if you know that it is used in your area. The reason is that when POP is turned on then the RD has to spend a lot more time constantly checking specific radar frequencies for POP transmissions. This in turn lowers overall sensitivity a bit since less time can be spent scanning all of the other radar frequencies.
