Escort 9500i Late Alert and No Alert HELP ASAP
Escort 9500i
This morning on I-95 north in northern VA notice a blue and grey state trooper in a dodge charger sitting in the same spot from yesterday right smack dead in the middle of the interstate. I did not get a alert at all using the escort 9500i. A few days ago I just tested the cobra xrs r7 and it failed in the same spot as well with no alert. Can someone help me to figure out why I didnt alarm. Its brand new equiment.
Next as I was driving I consecutivly keep getting lazer signals all the time. The conditions was rainy, wind, and some snow here and there. Why does the laser signals keeps going off on any weather conditions? I returend back the escort for another one and didnt have that problem at all....
Do i need lazer dection on?
Next to my final destantion in PA on route 80 east. I was just before mile marker 265.6 and was comming up a small hill. As I reached the top of the hill i noticed the state trooper on the left posted in the middle on the hill downward. I responed 4 sec before my radar went off! WOW.
I am heading to purchase a Blinder M25 now. I am going to return the escort 9500i and see what the blinder can do...
the 9500i is a ok but I think it need to be tweaked out some more.

Well the first thing it could be is that the LEO was not using the his radar when you were passing him. Thus not giving you an alert.
And im not to sure about the laser falses. I had mine for about 3 months and driven through everything and no falses.
And those PA Troopers are REALLY good with their old K-Band guns.

Well could they be using "VASCAR"? If so how can I defend that?
YES you Are correct on the K band, they are precise! I think the officer saw me at the top off the hill and then decided to cut on the radar.... HUMM
Cuz I hope that if his radar system was on, I would have atleast pick it up a little bit before i came over the hill.

Well there is nothing to defend against Vascar. The only thing i could tell you is to watch for white lines going across the road with a LEO at one end of them. So its up to your eyes to warn you.
Sometime they sit in the woods where you cant see them till your on top of them and turn the radar on.:mad: not too cool.

OK, first off, the trooper in the center of the highway is probably shooting laser. The Blinder M25 will protect you against laser, but does not detect radar. Since radar is much more widely used that laser, you still need a RD.
Secondly, I/O radar is just what it sounds like, the LEO has it off, then instantly turns it on. If the radar unit is off, there is nothing to detect, so your 9500i stays quiet. Then when the LEO turns his radar on, your 9500i goes nuts, just like it's supposed to. The fact that the LEO is sitting on the opposite side of a hill tells you that this particular LEO is doing all he can to reduce the detection range of his radar and it works. Returning your 9500i will not change any of that.
Third, VASCAR is just a timing device. The LEO times how long it takes you to travel between two spots, then based on the distance traveled, calculates your speed. It's just a timer. There is no such thing as a timer detector. The only defense against VASCAR is your eyes.

Do you know what Instant-on radar is? Do you understand why they are called Radar Detectors, and not Cop Detectors?

You are right once the LEO turned on the radar my 9500i went off like CRAZY. It was TOO late. By that time the LEO was sticking his hand out the window pointing at me. NO Tickcet for doing 3 over the limit. Lucky me. And you know that's pretty smart for that LEO to sit like that to reduce his distance of his radar. YES it did work extremely well for that guy.
Unfortunately, I am not going to return the 9500i. I am going to keep it because when I was going to buy the Blinder M25. The seller said I need to keep it cuz it matches up with the blinder m25 well... He couldn't give me an explanation why, so I just have to find out for myself how good the Blinder M25 works.
Oh and by the way I need to get familiar with the acronyms you guys use such as RD.. or does that mean radar?

RD = Radar Detector
I personally think you need to do a lot more reading around here. It's my opinion that you're out buying all these countermeasures, without even understanding what they do, or what you are fighting. You first need to have a basic understanding of radar and laser, as in how each works, before you can understand how to defend against each.

They don't need white lines. A trooper can use any point as a reference to measure between for VASCAR. It might be the end of a guard rail, speed sign - anything. All VASCAR does is measure how long it takes your car to travel between two points. It's made more liars out of leos, but that's a subject for discussion another time.
