Don't run red lights (espically Monday in Collier County)

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - The Collier County Sheriff's Office is stepping up its red-light safety campaign. On Monday, April 27th there will be extra focus on enforcement at 15 to 20 traffic intersections around Collier County where red-light running is a problem based on crash data.

Deputies are not saying at what intersections they will be stationed.

The Sheriff's Office launched its "Red Means Stop In Any Language'' campaign on April 9 to increase red-light safety awareness.

In 2007 there were 132 crashes related to red-light running in Collier County. Nationwide, more than 1,000 people are killed and over 180,000 people are injured each year due to red-light runners.
