someone help me bout my detector please

Check it out i got pulled over today for the first time for speeding on the way home from work goin down 295 doin 80 in a 65 i have a 12 band cobra simple radar detector nothing special and nothing registered when i saw the cop. on the ticket it says something about LTI2020 i think thats the laser gun he was using but im not sure why didnt it register on my detector? is it beat? do i need a new one? do i need an updated one? someone help me please i cant help but to speed n cant keep getting pulled over like this. thanks

Cobra is the worst brand of radar detectors. Period. He got you with laser and No detector will save you from that.

x2....out of all the radar detector brands out there, the most popular is cobra, however it just happens to be the worst too..also dont buy into rocky mountian radar crap either..if you want a decent or outstanding detector check out beltronics, escort, valentine one..however as previously stated, no radar detector will save you from laser. the V1 is the best at picking up laser scatter, but still wont save you in normal circumstances..for laser you have to get a jammer, and depending on your car, and the color will depend on your jammer brand..usually if you drive a smaller darker car a zr3,zr4+veil and plate cover will do good, if you have a bigger car, suv, truck, Laser interceptor is the best..just whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A COBRA!! oh and btw i have no idea how i missed this, whistler radar is great too. they just came out with some new units for a really good price..just do some research on here and if you cant find it in the search go ahead and ask...good luck

No radar detector will save you from Laser, if you get extremely lucky you may pick up scatter from another vehicle but it's not a guarantee.

The only defense against Laser is to buy a jammer, check your local laws first to see if they're legal in your area.

Yeah, and while you're at it, check to see if speeding is legal where you live. If it is illegal, you will need to stop.

Ya think? :) I'm just trying to save the guy from a huge ticket for having illegal hardware.

If you want to get a reasonable detector at a good price, check out Whistler or Escort's refurbished 8500's on EBay.

It won't save you from laser, though. Luckily, laser is rarer than radar, but you will need to determine whether the chance of another laser ticket or a laser jammer is worth more to you...

Actually, Cobra detectors these days have been growing in dependability. Some even stand up in court. Make sure that you contest the ticket. On your court date, bring your Cobra in. Tell the judge that not ONE of the 12 different bands alerted so you're SURE the cop never clocked your speed. I'm fairly certain the judge will throw out the charges.
