i bricked my 9500ix =[

hey guys hows it goin.

i currently just got a 9500ix 4 weeks ago from ebay and i absolutely love it. (paid 418$ shipped new and wrapped in box). and i saw that you get 3 months of free updates so i decided i should use it before it expires.

so i installed all the software and drivers from escort and started updating my radar. and i swear i saw that the updating was complete so i unplugged my radar and put it near my wallet and went to bed (it was like 1 in the morning).


i woke up the next day ready to go to work and i plugged in my radar and it wouldnt turn on. the lights on the smartcord are both lit once you plug in the radar (if the cord by itself is plugged in to the lighter, the lights are off). and you try to hold down the power button, nothing happens to the radar. no noise or display or anything.

i called escort to see if i can send it in for repair (i dont mind paying a fee, thats how much i love this radar) but the lady said that they dont service their radars if it isnt bought through them or an authorized dealer (and i guess ebay isnt an authorized dealer).

so i contacted the guy i got it from and he said i can return this one and he'll send me a new one for 100 bucks. sounds good to me i guess.


is there anything else i can do just to get this to work again? i tried to connect it to my computer to see if i can restore it but i guess it needs to be powered up in order for it to be detected on my computer.... which there is no way i can power it up. and i tried my friends smart cord and he has a 9500i, and still no luck, just the same 2 lights on when the radar is plugged in.

i feel naked as is without my radar and im afraid of this guy screwing me over if i send him my radar plus 100$ and i might not get a new one back.

Ebay is a high risk.. Always buy from a authorized dealer

you should of never told them u got it from ebay!!!!!!!!!!

There is some authorized dealer's on ebay best way to see is to ask for the serial number of the item u want to buy then call the company and ask if there any problems with it

I would not buy from that guys on ebay again that would be stupid. i think ull be able to get $50-$100 for it from escort toward a new detector from them.

Don't the 2 lights on mean something is shorting? Have you tried using your Smartcord with his 9500i? Or, plugging your RD into his car, with his Smartcord?

Also, have you tried a hard reset (I forget the sequence of buttons you have to push...)

Isn't the hard reset sequence detailed in the owners manual? :dontknow:

and to the comment that said i shouldnt have told them i got it from ebay, what do you think if i called escort again and didnt tell them i got it from ebay? are they going to ask for a receipt or something? because the first question she asked me is where i got it from.

You got it as a gift don't you remember?

I would try calling again, they should fix it. After the normal niceties start off by asking how much it would be to send it in to be fixed. If you assume they will fix it, so will they.

that's easy say somebody gave you it for a bday gift you!!!!!!!! now they know you problly gave em the number on it they typed that in you could of just f'ed yourself just saying
