The grills appears to have no effect on X or K band detections capabilities. However, on Ka band there is obvious evidence that the grills in front of the receivers do effect detection range.
Also, surprising the ZR4s were able to provide JTG performance even with a front plate and no other counter measures (plate shield, veil, etc...).

Good stuff, REB. I'm a little confused by the radar numbers. With or without the grille, you should be picking up radar a good mile farther than that! Did you have it dialed way down, or what? And have you got a close-up of the grille? Just curious exactly how thick and perforated it is.

Hmm... So what's different about your grill vs. DJ's? Offhand it looks like your grill has less of an attenuating effect than his does...

We had the radar 90º to the road, like in the picture on the bottom of the chart. I just measured the grills, they're about 7/16" thick, hex is also 7/16" OD, and web thickness is 1/8".

I'd say their results were spot-on with what I saw. X and K band worked fine for me. I don't have any 33.8 around here so I don't know about that. 34.7Ka was spotty, sometimes good, sometimes bad. 35.5Ka was awful. They didn't test 35.5. That's where I saw by far the biggest problem.

More proof for best performance you need to let the head be unobstructed!
As for the ZR4's PL2 results, both the zr3 and zr4 have no trouble jamming the 238pps guns, In fact if the laser atlanta/pl2 is your only worry the Zr4 is a great jammer

In places where RDs are "persona non grata", there is no choice but to mount behind plastic. A visible antenna can be seen if there is a traffic stop, whether it be radar related or not.
That grille on the Pontiac looks like what they call "argent". Sort of a silver gray color. Wonder if it has "metallic" particles that would block radar more than a painted bumper?
Did you decide what blocked radar more?
(a) plastic bumpers
(b) windscreens
What would you prefer? :confused:
(a) slightly less Ka-band range
(B) confiscation, a fine and points.
That is the dilemma in places where "radios" are considered dangerous. :rolleyes:

NMA was the only one that brought radar guns to the testing, so we didn't have a 35.5 available. They're kind of expensive just to buy for testing RDs. It would have been nice though, I know IN and IL state police use 35.5, and so does Naperville PD. I've yet to find Champaign police actually running radar, so I have no clue what the use, lol.
I agree that the grill-less look is way too obvious. It also ruins the clean style I was trying to have with my car. Right now I still have the grills on for driving around the city, and just pull the passenger grill off for highway use.

Why does GOL show it has such a problem against the PLII then? Also, my ZR3 was awful against a LA.
