9500ix vibrating/bouncing on mount...help
I have a recently purchased 9500ix, and I use this in two vehicles. I have no problems with the mount in one vehicle (pickup truck).
However, when I use it in my Evo, it vibrates over every bump, and rattles as well. I have adjusted the mount up, down, and every way it can be adjusted. It still rattes. The Evo does have a very firm ride, but my 8500 did not do this. Is this common for vehicles with firm suspensions? Is there any way I can modify my mount to make the RD more secure, with less movement?

Same issue with my TL so i mounted it high to the left of the RVM slightly leaning on it and now its solid as a rock. Also replaced the suction cups with heavy duty ones.

Yes. When I bought my old '95 Miata I hardwired the detector before using it, and it suddenly became the most annoying rattle in the entire car. (Part of my problem is that, being hardwired, the detector wasn't held down by the tension in the cigarette lighter cord.)
I went to the craft store and bought some of the little clear rubber "dots" that go on the backs of picture frames to keep them off the wall. I firmly applied two of them to the top edge of the detector and haven't heard any rattles since then. The combination of adding just a little bit more length to make it tighter against the windshield and the shock absorption of the rubber completely eliminated the rattling.
It worked for my Bels, should work for the Escorts with the same crappy mount...
Also make sure the suction cups are as flat as possible. They should make a little pop when you first push them in tight.

I used a rolled-up section of an old bicycle tire innertube as a vibration snubber for my RD mount. Looks like ****, but works great! :D

What sort of Evo are you in? Non-MR VIII and IX suspensions are some of the stiffest stock suspensions on any car on the road. The stock Advans are not nice either as far as absorbing those bumps.
My X50 rattled so bad I cut a couple of small pieces of boost hose and put them just over the little plastic nubs on the X50 to dampen the vibrations ... it still bounces but it's quiet :D.

Thanks for the help guys. I will give some of these methods a shot, probably those clear rubber stoppers first. I am in a IX GSR with coilovers and 18" wheels and 40 series rubber. Not the best setup for ride comfort! But it is weird that my previous 8 year old 8500 never vibrated this bad.
