Anyone else seen this on a Bel V940?
I bought a Bel V940 recently. Works fine, but there is one really strange thing about this one that isn't even an option on it, the display shows Spec Mode all the time! I downloaded the manual to be sure, although I already knew, that the ONLY display mode available is the standard band with the increasingly bigger squares to denote signal strength.
It is an M4 with a date code of 3607.
Anybody have any idea?

Not uncommon on the 940/955 to occasionally lose their identity and start thinking they're 995s. Mine has been confused into thinking it had Belscort jammers installed when I don't have any.

Try performing a system reset bigalinwv.

Did that, no change. I just can't figure out how it could have the Spec Display when it isn't even an option.

I have a v940 and it has never showed spec mode. I have owned mines for about 3 years.

Keep it the way it is then. You're lucky you didn't have to pay for the 995 to get spec.

Bel ships 940s and 955s with band select, spec mode, voltage meter, etc, but they cripple the features in the firmware for the lower end models. So far, no one on the forum has been able to figure out a permanent way to make all of the 995s features work on the 940/55. The features show up randomly and we appreciate them. :)
Re: Anyone else seen this on a Bel V940?
Yea, but when my sister's 940 did that, it would also randomly false on Ka, when there wasn't another RD in the vicinity. A reset took care of it.
But yea, it was kinnda cool to have the features of the V995 for a bit :). My dad's V965 hasn't had an identity crisis yet, and he leaves his up all the time.

I have been using it and it also has some other quirks I can't figure out. Anytime the power gets shut off to it, it goes back to no volume, SWS on, POP on, and Autoscan. Then I have to manually turn the volume up. Other than that, it works like a champ, no problems with detection.

If you can, I would exchange it. The no audio could cost you a ticket.
