Re: What's wrong with my V1?
Tried it in different cars?
Turn the v1 backwards to see if the arrows switch to the back.
Here is his video.

Re: What's wrong with my V1?
Try it with a normal (non hardwired) cord. If it behaves normally, then it's your wiring.

That is what I was about to say.. Also be very careful where you tap into 12 volts at. There are some wires that may show 12 or 13.4 volts but may be a wire going to the cars computer, like a signal wire with a frequency running through it and that may set it off, as the 12 volts may appear dirty due to the frequency running through it.

OP: How did you hardwire it?

Tapped into the HomeLink 12V supply. I know numerous other people who have done this with no problems. I'll try to find someone close by who has the normal cord since I don't have one.

I personally don't like splicing or modifying factory wires if possible. I recommend the Add a circuit kit.

I drove around a bit and it kept fluctuating between 6-9 ka threats. I know nothing is causing it to go off such as a house alarm, since I drove over 2 miles away. Could this be caused by bad wiring? Also thought id mention I am not using the stock phone cable that came with it. Previous owner lost the original one so I am using a pretty thick one from radioshack. Also tried turning off my cellphone and still had the problem. I also have a bluetooth phone system in my car, could that be causing it? I have a video of what it is doing, but am able to link it since I don't have enough posts.
Thanks.
Dude it's not a new detector and the dude that sold it to you ripped you off. It's got a problem and needs to got back to VR. check out to see if it stolen aswell. Sorry but this looks like a duck

The "dude" that sold it to me is a friend of 25 years and used it in his porsche turbo for the last 2 years with no problems. I highly doubt he stole it or ripped me off. He only sold it to get a 9500ci.
Here is an update. I plugged it in with the regular cigarette lighter plug in another car and still had about 1-2 ka signals pretty much everywhere I drove. Is that normal? I disabled KA to see what would happen and had 0 alerts. If its not normal il give it back to the previous owner or send it in to Valentine. Not sure if it matters, but it has software version 3.825 and is v1.8 with euro and pop.
