8500 Refurb

Just a couple questions. I have a refurb 8500 I got from Escort off Ebay. Aren't they all supposed to be all S7 antennas? The reason I ask is that the one I have is very silent to falses that I pick up with my M4 Detectors and I thought S7 was supposed to be more sensitive off axis so they give more falses...I just started using it yesterday and have had 1 Ka encounter that was decent but I am not sure about the K band detection.

From what I have found: The 8500 will get beat by most of Escort's newer products on K band, including the X50. The 8500 will shine on Ka band, especially 35.5 Ka.

My K band sucks. I have to be driving right at a K band source for it to alert. It has no off axis K band detection at all.

It shouldn't be that bad, sounds like something may be wrong with the detector.
