Multiple false Ka band alerts on I-75
Today I took a 50 or so mile drive up (North) on 75 and then back.
Once on the way up there and three times on the way back I got almost full strength Ka alerts lasting for about 15 seconds, the last one was longer, probably 30 seconds.
I was paying good attention all times and I know there wasnt a LEO around. I also didnt notice anything that was the same in any of the alerts like semi's or anything. The first time there wasnt any traffic i could see ahead of me and only two cars behind me.
Whats up with this? Does anything set Ka off? I thought most if not all of the falses would be on K or X band.
The stretch of 75 I was on it mostly all woods.
Re: Multiple false Ka band alerts on I-75
Could've been a leaky Cobra radar detector in the area.

It's a locked thread but the information might be of some help.
BTW: What part of I-75 did you get your ka alerts? ... If it was an RD, it should be clear next time you go through that area.
Have a great one.

Re: Multiple false Ka band alerts on I-75
I've actually seen a Cobra go bad on a road trip in someone else's car and start occasionally picking up its own leakage, and then start going into an on/off cycle. It started setting off other RDs around it for a good stretch of the freeway. Funny thing is this was long before I came to this site. Neither of us knew it was the Cobra, we just kept thinking it was a cop somewhere following in the distance, because everyone, us included, kept jamming the brakes. Not until we pull off onto a deserted side route and the RD kept going did we realize the Cobra was crapping itself.
