Firmware delay: Detector Tools can't differentiate between newer/older versions of HW
I saw this interesting post on the Escortradarforum site by EscortRadar himself:
Add to this the newer "USB powered for updating version" of the 9500ix (which was in response to customer demand) and now we have several "versions" of the same model that we have to identify through software and be sure the correct code for that hardware is installed. We are aware of the problem and are working to remedy it. Hindsight is always 20/20 and we have learned a lot with our cutting edge GPS detectors that will go forward with future products
My response:
So your developers used the same USB PID for two versions of hardware, didn't realize it until after they got out the door, and now Detector Tools can't tell which is which? Bwahahahah.... oh I can't wait to see how you plan to fix this screw-up. Something tells me we're getting a new build of Detector Tools that bases application of correct firmware on serial number, and THAT is what the hold up is, not the firmware itself.
I thought this was pretty interesting. Someone over at Escort didn't think this one through all the way.
Re: Firmware delay: Detector Tools can't differentiate between newer/older versions o
meh. I wrote a long response but the forum dumped it.
tl:dr: Belscort engineers need to be fired.
Re: Firmware delay: Detector Tools can't differentiate between newer/older versions o
They recently updated the detector tools so this is starting to make sense. I'm willing to be Escort doesn't even make there software.
