Is there a RD that covers all the bases or was it a mistake buying the V1???
Ok, I must admit, I had a knee jerk reaction and bought the V1 last week, but the buyers remorse started settling in before it was delivered.
I think I made a mistake and although fixing the mistake isn't the problem... Its finding the solution that is
I put somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60k miles a year and I spend a lot of time driving through VA. Ive been caught there before and I don't want it to happen again. The most recent stops would have easily been prevented if I had a RD, so im already kicking myself for not having one.
Ive been lurking on the board for over a week now and I have read for hours upon hours and I just cant orient myself with which is the best choice for what I need/want.
The must haves are:
1 Sensitivity and range in all police bands and laser - Most of my miles are on the interstate, however I drive through town enough to know I don't want a radar detector driving me crazy
2. Undetectable
3. Minimal false alarms
4. GPS and speed cameras would be very nice for the daily commuting to work and around town.
5. Price (I think $700+ would be hard to justify although I understand the benefits might outweigh the cost... still)
6. Automute
6.1 Mounting - Don't care how or where as long as its not right in my way.
I dont care what color the lights are, I don't care what it looks like or what its made out of... As far as Im concerned, it could look like a pile of dog poop on my dash board as long as it does everything I need it to.
Does such a RD exist or am I asking too much? I mean, its 2010 already, has any one figured out how to put all these features in one package?

Top Center of your page, there is a magical button that will lead you to your features and many reviews. Redline Sti 9500ix will have varying degrees of $500 dashmount sucess, 9500ci and STi-R will meet the same standards at higher price.

Sti or Redline hardwired high, plus a Cheetah C50 is about as close as you will get with that.
The V1 fails in a few of your categories, namely the undetectable, it certainly isn't that. \
A 9500ci would be exceptional, except the price is that of an exceptional new computer...

There are forum, V-1 users that frequent Virginia. Your driving habits can expose your detector used as much as a seldom-encountered Spectre. Many detector confiscations start with the device being readily visible from outside the vehicle. Either way, get a cheap-detector as a decoy, to hand over if you are ever stopped

They don't confiscate in VA and it's a &70 fine for getting caught with a detector. No points either, so way better than a speeding ticket.
STi, Redline or STi-R are your best bets.

Yea, I have a friend that always leaves his V1 on through VA, but I dont know if I want to take the risk.
The cheetah C50 seems like a pretty nice device. I never even thought about that.
My question would be... Does this C50 carry the same features/technology as the other RDs that have this "built in" already other than the fact that they can memorize and store automatic door openers and stores?

Any experience in how effective the GPS subscription is compared to something like the c50?

9500ci would be perfect to fit all your requirements. If you can spend just over a grand its well worth it and there will be no buyers remorse.
Ether keep the V1 and add the C50 or get a 9500ix. But in both cases you will need to install a kill switch so you can quickly cut power to ether RD.

Send the V1 back and order a Bel or Escort, then look into laser protection with the rest of your money for the best value. :)
