Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
Driving SB on I-55 in my moms car with her Cobra ESD-9200 (Mounted next to RVM) and get the the dreaded "Be careful, Laser Alert >Screaming tone..." and see the ISP in the median with lidar unit!
Not a real save, but can not believe the Cobra picked up the laser where it was mounted!
Re: Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
Some of the Cobras are actually very good at detecting laser. Too bad that when your detector screams laser it's almost always too late.
Re: Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
Mothers day is coming up, do your mom a favor and get her a real detector. ;)

Believe it or not, only the V1 beats the Crapra in laser detection.
Of course, by the time you're detecting laser on your RD, you've been owned.

I never had a laser tester when I used Cobras to check them out, but I did try one against a Whistler 1730 once. While I never came up against real laser on the Whistler, it was BEASTLY with off-axis detection against the tester (one of the Guys Of Lidar ones). It easily exceeded my S7 RX-65 and wasn't too far off from my V1!
Re: Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
Holy cow! Second laser hit in a week by ISP with amazing off-axis detection! Still, it did not provide a save as I was blasted with no hope of correcting myself.
<whew>
Re: Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
My XTR-140 regularly beat my RX65 in Laser detection. Go figure!
Re: Cobra actually detected Laser mounted high on windshield
That was a false, it was just a coincidence that the LEO was there too.
