Jammed Ultralyte near Portland, OR
Yesterday, I was driving West down highway 26, towards the Vista Ridge tunnel in Portland, Oregon. Usually, motorcycle cops sit on the overpass and laser cars going East up the hill from the tunnel.
But yesterday, there was a cruiser sitting on the shoulder of the West bound lanes, tagging people coming down the hill from the zoo towards the tunnel. That's dirty pool, as the speed limit is set artificially low at 50mph, and it's impossible to come down that hill at anything under 60mph.
I saw the car early, but paid it no mind, as it was easily 2,000 feet away, and I was in the fast lane with two lanes of cars between him and me. But nope, he targeted me.
My V1 was silent, but the laser interceptor alarm went off, announced that it was jamming an LTI 2020, and I slowed down to PSL and put on the cruise control. Cop never had a chance. Saved me a ticket, as I was over 60. Thanks again, LI!

Did you kill the jammer and let him get a reading on you after you got to the PSL?

x2... it doesn't sound like it with his:
"Cop never had a chance..."
We REALLY need jam-timers on these things... as in: immediately.
The sales of jammers are great now, but when every-state bans (or a sweeping Federal Law bans them)... it won't be a party then.

No, I kept jamming. Usually I'll turn off once I'm down to PSL. But the time in which I came over the hill, got shot, and then sped past him, was only a few seconds. So I slowed down just so if he shot me in the back, he wouldn't get a reading--as I only have jammers in the front of the vehicle. He still looked frustrated, though.
I was most surprised my V1 didn't go off. Every other time I've been shot, it's right there squawking as well.

Not really. It was reasonable to assume that a well trained cop wouldn't be shooting me at 2,000+ feet. If he had broken through and got a reading at that distance, it would have been easier to contest in court.
Re: Jammed Ultralyte near Portland, OR
I wonder how many cops have no idea that laser transponders work so they just blame it on lidar guns being faulty when they get jammed. How many cops have switched back to radar guns because they think lidar guns are not as good?

Why are products sold to people like this... next state to have banned jammers: Oregon.
What you say makes no sense:
He targetted you at 2,000+FT (Lets say somewhere between there and 2,500ft), so basically he targeted you for a good 1/3-to-1/2 mile, and you didn't have time to hit the brakes, shave 10mph off... and kill the jammer.
(I am using the rough 50% FPS guess here)
You say you were over 60... lets go with 65 in a 55, as that sounds reasonable for your statement.
65MPH=~90fps
So to cover 2,250ft:
2,250ft/90fps=
25seconds of jamming. (Give or take 5 seconds for the rough estimate).
In 25seconds you couldn't slow down and kill the jammers.
I really don't understand why they allow people like you have have an LI... oh yeah, NVM... $$$.
Re: Jammed Ultralyte near Portland, OR
If he had you at ~2000', you immediately slowed to the vicinity of the PSL, you should then have immediately killed the LI. Why do you care if he shoots your backside, you're at ~PSL. This failure to kill the LI and let the LEO get a speed reading is the first-order sin. Get it together, guys, or we'll all lose these things.

2000 feet does not equate to a few seconds. learn to Jam, slow, kill or eventually you will get what you deserve.
I've been shot at way less than 500', had time to slow and kill the jammer so don't feed the BS line I did not have time!!
