Illinois State Police - 2 encounters in a week. What gives?
2 hits in the last week with my wife's and moms Cobra ESD-9200 with laser by ISP (I-55 & I-80)
One time straight on and one time severely off axis. Although it did not provide a 'save', it was amazing that this unit did detect these laser signals.
What is up with ISP really stepping up the laser patrol?
(I wish I was running my 8500 X50 during these encounters...)

I go to Chicago a couple times a month and the 9500ix is a great RD for Chicago. You can get rid of the falses, and it has a RLC database. As for the laser issue, you need to get some jammers. But I think in Cook county still laser is not on judicial notice so if you get a laser ticket you can go to court and have it thrown out.

stepping up? they have been out in force for several months now. I see at least 2 a day just on my commute.
in march one day I say 15 on 294 between 88 and 80.

I just got back from Illinois and the ISP were non existent ...............
No Laser , No Radar, nothing. In fact in 3 days I only saw 2 ISP cars.

they must be out looking for me then because I see them all the time lol
I must be their elusive white wale lol.
I had a Ka alert this morning on my way in, he was traveling in the other direction. and then at lunch (in a coworkers car with no detector) there was one on the shoulder not sure what he was using.

The county may not be able to do that, but ISP can.
When I drove through Chicago on 4/2, they had a sign on I80 saying they issued 43 tickets the previous day. I like those odds. :p

My Buddy in Illinois tells me that he's hearing "Rumors" of 550 ISP being laid off this year because the State is in so much financial troubles.

You would think they make money off the ISP, all they need to do is average 1 ticket a hr, and they have more than paid their salary.

I would assume there are a good 500,000 people who travel the Chicagoland area every day, that is pretty easy to do since so many people speed there.

Money for the tickets goes to the county in which the ticket is written, ISP is funded through state income taxes, additional fees at the DMV and District 15 bills the Tollway for services (that's why they got all the new chargers when much of the rest of the state is in CVPIs).
And I almost forgot, no RD will save you from laser.
BTW they tend to work beats and high complaint areas, if you travel the same area all week at the same time there's a decent chance of seeing one or two, and if the speed team hit the area for a few days so they can put the signs up you'll see it.
