Whistler 690SE vs the Whistler Pro 78SE
Hey guys,
Looking to upgrade my old Whistler 1580 sometime in the future.
What would you recommend, the 690SE, 695SE, or the Pro 78SE?
Only reason I ask is the I would assume the 78SE would be better but I have
seen where the 690SE was a little ahead of the 78SE on a test chart. And I've
found the 690SE is actually higher priced on some website.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it's kinda weird that the red display 690SE is usually more costly than the blue display 78SE. I wouldn't recommend the 695SE because of the display, although I own 2 695s.

The Pro78SE, XTR690SE and the XTR695SE are the same radar detector platform. The only difference is the display. Any difference in sensitivity is manufacturing variance.
The detector you choose really comes down to personal preference on the display. For myself, I chose the Pro78SE over XTR695SE based on the display. The XTR695SE platform display is very difficult to see in bright sunlight. The reason I know this I have the XTR695 non se version it's still a good detector.

Other than the different displays, the 695 and i think the 690 also have a compass and car battery voltmeter. Both can be useful options if needed.
If those options are not needed, the 78se with its bright blue display wins hands down IMO.
