Finally joining the 78SE party
Yeah I know: "It's about time cooljay!!!" but money has been tight especially with the baby and just getting around to being able to spend some on myself :D. So I'm joining the 78SE party, ordered it today and will hopefully have it next week some time. My current 78 non-SE will be passed on to my father since my brother broke his old whistler.
So anything I should know about before hand?
Re: Finally joining the 78SE party
IMO, the 78SE is arguably the best detector in its price range. I've owned one going on a year, have no regrets or buyer's remorse.
You'll need to be aware of the X-K ID confusion issue.
If X-band is disabled in the menu or City mode is enabled and if X-band is in the area, it'll go ahead and alert K-band when it should be quiet.
Not a big problem if there's little or no X-band radar sources in your area.
My work around is to leave highway and X-band (in menu) enabled along with Auto Quiet Mode.
A little better performance can be obtained if POP is disabled in the menu.

Yeah the Pro-78 Rev. C I have now does the same thing, nothing major but gotta keep the X band enabled here in NC as I've heard reports of it still being used. So pretty much same settings for the 78SE as the 78 Rev. C.
Re: Finally joining the 78SE party
I would run the following settings:
-HIGHWAY
-POP OFF
-KA RSID
-FILTER
If Ka falses start becoming an issue, adjust the filter accordingly.
