Well i live in tucson, so the summers are freakin hot. Sometime i have to turn off my rd becuase it gets so hot it burn to the touch. so i was thinking of install a fan under the detector. heres a drawing on how i will do it. I have a really small fan so im thinking of drilling a hole on the bottom of the rd. and just solder the negative and positive to some source on the radar. Any thoughts.

I personally wouldn't drill holes into a detector the run wires off its mainboard. I think a fan blowing on the case itself should help a bit. Drawing power from the detector's circuit could lead to problems and kill your warranty if the unit has holes drilled into it plus tampered circuits. Just my $0.02
i dont know any other ways to cool it down.
AC blower set to window or is the cool air unable to reach it?

I wouldn't try to go drilling holes in my radar detector... Hundreds... Nay thousands of radar detector users do just fine down in the south. Your detector needs to be hardwired high behind tint, and have a/c on it if possible.
Furthermore taking it down and putting it in your glove compartment or under the seat when leaving the car will also help keep it cool... Or better yet: take it with you.
