[New User] Beltronics V940 - Auto Turn On
I got my first radar detector a few days ago and I am wondering if there is a way to make it turn on when I start my car and off when I stop it instead of having to push the power button. I have seen a few friends and my brothers do this out of the box. From what I can tell my car has power to the cigarette lighters 24/7 if that has anything to do with it. I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier.

Using a cigarette lighter source or hardwired?
Cig lighter - should do automatically as long as you don't turn it off when you leave your car.
Hardwired- Add a circuit fuse kit + direct wire kit, pick a fuse that isn't supplied constantly. For example, the clock is always running, don't tap that fuse.

I currently use the cigarette lighter, I have asked my brother as he previously owned the car and he said that I needed to use the power button as the cigarette lighters always power the device whether the car is on or not.

Great entry level detector.....I should know I have the same one! lol!
Anyways I bought the Direct Wire Fuse Kit from Radarbusters and I am working flawless. Turns on and off with the car.

No need to be skeptical. Everything should work fine. Just take your time and be patient with the install. I hardwired my Cheetah C-50 and just tapped into my CL. Shouldnt take you more than an hour.
