Every time that I've tried the whole POP thing out, I've gotten falses like crazy. I have a high tolerance for falses, but I couldn't handle the amount I got while having the POP feature on.
POP is in MPH guns (K and 33.8). If not used in your area, turn POP off. What the V1 does, is alarms first at a 33.8 then looks afterwards to see if it was a fast POP hit. If it is a Cobra (oscillator trash), then it will 'J' out for junk and stop the alarm. It just lessen the fast false alarms from Cobras. On the other hand, you will have faster K and 33.8 alerts if you leave it on...
Is anyone aware if Houston is using POP? I have heard it isn't. I get a lot of POP alearts, but they are commonly followed up by a solid K or Ka signal.
One never knows if it is a POP hit or Cobra untill the V1 J's out the 33.8 signal which is a ka. This can happen as later as a minute later but usualy is a second or two later after the first alert on Ka. Texas is mostly Stalker (34.7) with some locals running Kustom (35.5) is what I read, please correct me if wrong.

Now I am fixing to throw you a curve. On K band (all make guns), if a Leo gets quick on the on/off button (Q/T), with POP on, you have a 100% chance of catching that signal if 100ms. With POP off, you have a 100% of catching that signal if it is 200ms long. Simple, leave it on for a better chance to catch a Q/T K band. Note: post will not correct the 100 percent...
In my area I haven't noticed additional falsing with POP on, so I leave it on in the event that LEOs quick-trigger or actually use POP mode. If I start getting K/KA band falsing, I'd turn it off.
With POP ON on the V1 it makes it almost impossible to Q/T on K band and Ka33.8. But since it's spending so much time scanning these two bands your reaction time to Q/T on Ka 34.7 and Ka 35.5 go up. So if K and Ka 33.8 are used alot turn POP ON. But if Ka 34.7 or Ka 35.5 are used your V1 will do better with POP OFF.Quote:
