Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
In a hypothetical scenario where one wanted to to have overkill protection on a 2 grandish budget for their car front + rear, would they be better off with:
4 Head LI in front and 4 Head LI in Rear ($2200ish?)
LI QUAD HP, 2 heads in front, 2 heads in rear ($2200ish?)
I'm thinking one would be better off with 8 heads with total transmission power of 8 diodes, as opposed to 4 heads with total transmission power of 8 diodes. This could help place heads in certain areas to cover hard to protect areas without mounting low or sacrificing center mass protection.
Of course, 2x LI HP QUAD would be best, but that's like 4.5K....
Re: Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
The real question is, what kind of car is this?
Yes, it matters.

^ This.
Theoretically, four heads beats two. However, it is very much dependent upon the mounting options and lidar profile of the car itself, which is quite variable.
Re: Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
ON a large SUV then I would say two quads is better, on a Vette or sports car then I would say a quad HP.

Very good point. I can definitely see how 4 heads up front here would be unneccessary, even for overkill.
This might have the best mounting location ever.

Re: Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
I can't imagine you would need anything more than 2 normal heads for the front, that is a pretty clean front. Too lazy to google the rear...

The viper is not mine, it is just an example further backing cat4's point.
The thread is purely hypothetical. I drive a mustang gt, which would be a better candidate for a 4 head LI as opposed to 2 due to the wrap around headlights.

Re: Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
Most of the time:
4 sensors + 4 diodes > 2 sensors + 4 diodes
Especially since your car is wider than it is tall, the vertically polarized diode the HP offers doesn't give you much extra.
If you had a taller car (SUV) and got shot from overpasses alot, I might suggest HP. Actually no I'd probably suggest mounting extra heads vertically.
Re: Hypothetical OverKill on a budget
is there such thing as over kill in this particular area?
