New from Southside of Chicago
Hey everyone,
I joined to do some research on USB APIs for radar detectors. I've recently found myself infatuated with trapster, and would love to interface the detector and the phone to automatically generate warnings on screen; sort of like a 'shared-global' radar.
Does anybody know of any decent detectors that have documentation on the usb port? Also, would plugging an 1/8 audio output into most detectors result in muting the detector itself?
Thanks,
Joe

Welcome to the forum.
Many of us run Trapster along with a RD. There are a few companies that are beginning to integrate these concepts. Radaractive integrates the V1 and GPS on your smart phone. Escort's Defender Database does something similar with its GPS but does not use the smart phone. Check them out.

Welcome to the forum!
There's an app called radar active that pairs with the valentine one. I recommend a detector though because not all databases will cover the speed traps.
My phone already works overtime in the car, so I need more devices lol.
The passport 9500ix pairs with the escort detector tools, which is like a database. It's only compatible with PC's at the moment.
