STi-R Plus..New Install..Barely Any Alerts
Got my second STi-R Plus installed today by a professional installer. Was in the shop with them overseeing the whole install. Everything went flawless, 2 hours and out the door. I installed the antenna in a location I had my Redline before. This is my second STi-R Plus. The only thing I notice with this one compared to my first one is it hardly ever goes off. I know when they normally do go off, and I've noticed this one is eeerily silent. I've got two K 24.1??? alerts because I have it in Spec mode, but this thing is silent otherwise. I checked the interface and all the cables are plugged in all the way in the correct slots. I guess I'll give it a couple of days and see if it goes off more. All functions seem to be working properly, GPS, Autolock etc, so I don't know if this is just an one time thing or not. I passed two LEO's on the way home from the install, one with Radar, and Nada. I know that not all LEO's with Radar have it on all the time, this one was an OPP LEO around Toronto. Anyone else have a similar experience. Only thing I haven't done is connect it to Detector Tools to merge the database and load the software. I sold my laptop that had Windows 7 on it. I have a Macbook Pro and I can't use Detector Tools on that.

Run your Redline with it. See if your Redline gets alerts without the StiR alerting.

Parallels desktop, load windows 7 on it. Good to go.

Does it go off any? Mine was completely dead. I installed it and nothing. I ran my STI Driver with it for a few days and after seeing x, k and a Ka encounter with it silent, I knew it was dead. Beltronics said it has to be the sensor. I just sent the head back last week.

Yes, it's gone off for automatic door openers at grocery stores and for a fixed mounted k band gun in a sign down the road from our home. Did you have to send back the antenna or was it fixable with a software update?

Buy a Redline from escorts site. Test the stir against it. If the stir needs service, send it in and use the Redline. Return the Redline before 30 days, and escort will credit your credit card. No money out of your pocket.

I would, but Escort will not ship to Ontario, sucks for me. Got a neighbor that's letting me borrow his Windows laptop tomorrow. Will load the database and software update. See if that helps. If not, I'll be calling Beltronics Monday or Tuesday. The antenna is installed in an area I can easily remove it, I didn't go for behind the bumper or even in the grille. Glad I chose the location I did. For the STi-R Plus, I don't get any error messages displayed on the lcd display module. Not sure if it's just me, or if there's truly something out of whack with it. I just know it's awfully quiet.

I had to send it back. You definitely need to find something to run with it for a few days.
