Easy RD question (Plz help)
So I'm having my V1 hardwired to my car by the dealership in less than 10 hours! However, were I told them to mount it was the passenger side sun visor. I now have noticed the I have a kinda blueish blackish tint going across the top of my window from the out side how much is that going to effect performance?
Thanks,
icebeam
Re: Easy RD question (Plz help)
Nothing to worry about, tint strip will not effect performance at all.
Re: Easy RD question (Plz help)
icebeam, if you have a K or Ka stationary speed sign nearby use that, usually school zones are good spots to find them. Just park and plug the V1 into the cigarette lighter outlet. Then hold the V1 behind the tint strip horizontally and get the strength reading. Then open your side window and hold it horizontally toward the sign, any different in strength, you’ve got your answer.
Remember to be far enough away to be getting only a few LED dots on the V1 strength meter so you can tell if one is a stronger signal.
As an aside, the tint strip may inhibit a laser signal, although a laser jammer is the way to go if laser is a concern in your area.
BC :)

When I look into the car with the strip I can still see it just makes everything darker to my view like sunglasses. How is it the K, KA, X can still go through this but laser not so much?

Because K, Ka, X band is not light beams, your eyes do not take in radio frequencies, they take in light. Laser = light. Less lighting being taken in = less laser detection.

I have tint on my windshield and laser still comes through fine probably minimal laser detection loss but radar will be fine

Yeah, my V1 still goes nuts on laser even behind the strip. At least when I am targeted/random false.
