Help Choosing a Cheap Detector
Hi guys,
I have been putting off getting a detector for weeks now and low and behold I got another ticket yesterday. I notmally am not a fast driver, I just have a new to me Saab and it is so fast that I find myself speeding pretty often almost by accident. Anyway, I do not have a lot of extra money right now so I am lookng for the best bang for the buck...
I did a lot of reading and supposedly the cheapo Bel Express 795 is pretty good, and is only $80 at Radio Shack right now... I was reading on RadarTest.com that the 795 is almost just as good as their high end models just less bells and whistles which is exactly what I am looking for. http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=10051
I do know that they will false alert more often though.
I bought a cheezy Cobra 9400 last night at Circuit City but people seem to rag on these pretty badly so I think I'll take it back and get the Bel? Honestly I have to say that I am actually somewhat impressed with the Cobra though, it seems to work great so far. I believe most cops around here are using the Ka band (is that laser?)..
The big thing for me is I put a lot of miles on my car (about 1000 a week so far) and am pretty poor right now for a little while. I wouldn't mind saving but even a couple weeks without one I almost feel naked..
Circuit City sells the Bel Express 935 that has the 'better display' - and Bel appears to have discontinued the 795 with their only "express" model being the 935 for $150. Is this a better version of the 795? Thanks guys...

Yeah it does come easy
Cobra bad. Bel 795 good. Whistler Pro 58 / 73 also recommended. E795's appear to have some wide variations in performance, some absolutely rock and some are mediocre. Best bet is of course a $300 unit but hey for the money you can't go wrong with a 795 or a Pro 58.
