Re: V1 settings, new user
With K-band muting and Big "L" setting alert will not be heard for the 20 or 30 seconds you've selected. So be aware.
Re: V1 settings, new user
I would keep it in little L just in case. Any mode other than all bogeys with ka guard off will slightly lower ka detection but not by (in my case) noticeable amount, it still has amazing detection.

Thanks, that's prob what I'll do. I just want to mute K band alerts in my area since it's never used but I don't feel comfortable turning off the band all together.

Re: V1 settings, new user
As a newb to V1 I have 'so far' left things in ‘A’ to establish my baseline. Yes, it’s chatty but a necessary evil until I know what it can and won't do, before I dive into custom territory. I was tempted to kill X band until I was tripping along on the Arizona 101 Loop and picked up a slow but consistent ‘X’ beep. I figured it was anything other than a cop. The traffic was fairly light and then I noticed a white motorcycle with white helmet in my rearview mirror ‘Glendale’ PD. The arrow was pointed to the rear and shifted to the side and front as he passed. Though the beeps never increased in speed, it clearly identified him as the source and it faded off as he got further away. Who knew?
This was my first use and trip from Yuma to Phoenix and back for about 400-miles. I will now travel another 400-miles from Yuma to San Diego and see how it handles the more populated area. About 80% of these two trips are freeway so it's a fairly clean test-bed for any RD.
**UPDATE**
I disabled X-band with extreme prejudice. The damn alerts were driving me crazy! Not sure if my report regarding the Glendale motor-cop was really accurate since X-band goes off so often.
