Hey bro. Nice to hear you got back on your feet. I would definitely recommend the V1. It can be kinda chatty at times. But if you program it, there shouldn't be too much noise and your girlfriend will thank you. I understand you live in NE Florida. They use KA and K as well a laser from my experience up there. In Miami, it's strictly Laser and KA. I'll help you out and give you a programming solution to reduce the chattiness.
Reduce Chattiness: Since your in Florida, turn off X Band. LEOs don't use it. Program your detector to automute for various K band detection scenarios. I programmed my V1 for 30 secs automute, stay muted on four lights at onset, stay muted on six lights, and mute rear k band radar. What I would suggest is that you run in Little L Advanced Logic Mode in the city and A (All Bogeys Mode) on the highway. Little L Mode will just automute the sound of the radar bands being picked up for a short period of time. A Mode will alert you of everything except X because you have it turned off. You may not want to mute rear K band in northern Florida, but that how I do it down south. Let me know if you have any other questions.

More and more people come on the forum panicking about I/O and Q/T. The thing is: If you travel on freeways and there is a decent amount of traffic, you are just about garenteed to pick up something unless you meet a really really good I/O LEO and they are extremely rare.
Explanation: On freeways with decent traffic, the LEO needs to leave the beam on a few more seconds to make sure hes got the right target. They can't do that with a .05 sec burst or even 1 sec burst. It needs to be at the very least 2 or 3 sec. Belscort will detect that no problem.
LEOs think that by using Q/T with a 3 sec. burst, they will defeat the detectors. Obviously wrong. Having said that, the really good LEOs, knows how this work and will clock maybe 1 car out of 20. They sit there for a few minutes, clock most vehicles, get their visual estimation up to speed and they can stay there all day without using radar and call the speeds very accurately. When they see a vehicle that is travelling up to their tolerence, they I/O him and he is toast.
Almost all youtube video about I/O will show you the LEOs that are not great at this and Q/T every 2nd car.
Bottom line is, the V1 is obviously a killer when it comes to I/O, Q/T but how often will this feature alone save you? I am thinking maybe once a year if that. I would personalty still get the V1 because it is as good as the STiR Plus with a little less range even with Ka guard ON. You can do like the other guy was saying and use the mute feature.
Edit: Most people jump 5 feet in the air when you tell them that a LEO can visually estimate a speed. I like to use this analogy: An airplane pilot can probably have a rough idea at the altitude he is at without looking at his instruments because he is doing it day in and day out. Same thing for speed measurement. Obviously the general public can't do it because they don't practice it.
